Lil Wayne, an enthusiastic sports aficionado and legendary diamond-selling rapper has taken a major stride into the world of professional sports. The multifaceted artist has officially become a part-owner of the Texas Ranchers, a Major League Pickleball (MLP) team.
In a press release, Lil Wayne expressed his enthusiasm for this new endeavor, stating, “Pickleball is the moment and I’m excited to be part of the Texas Ranchers ownership group,” Lil Wayne said in a press release. “I’ve enjoyed watching and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to join this team of owners.”
Notably, the Texas Ranchers’ ownership consortium features an impressive lineup of personalities, including The Kid LAROI, country musician Zach Bryan, and Dallas Cowboys’ star Micah Parsons, among others. Within this dynamic mix, Lil Wayne will play a pivotal role as a strategic advisor for the Austin-based team.
Evan Floersch, CEO of the Ranchers, expressed his excitement over Lil Wayne’s involvement, stating, “We’re so excited to have Lil Wayne on board,” Ranchers CEO Evan Floersch said. “From the get-go, we set out to build a team that, at its core, was centered in pop culture to support our mission of becoming one of the most recognized brands in American sports. Having Wayne’s guidance, along with the rest of this incredible ownership group, emphasizes our stance on redefining sports ownership and being a positive force for good in our local pickleball community and beyond.”
Lil Wayne’s ownership stake in the Texas Ranchers comes as he gears up for the release of his highly anticipated ColleGrove 2 album, a collaborative project with fellow artist 2 Chainz, scheduled to launch on November 17.
