A 23-year-old man is in custody after a shooting at Wilmington Hospital in Delaware left one person dead and another injured.
According to Wilmington Police, officers responded to reports of gunfire at the hospital Tuesday afternoon. Two victims suffering from gunshot wounds were found at the scene.
One victim died from their injuries, while the condition of the second victim has not yet been released.
Authorities later located and arrested the suspect in Philadelphia. He is currently awaiting extradition back to Delaware, where charges are pending.
Before the arrest, investigators declined to say whether the suspect currently worked or previously worked at the hospital.
The investigation remains active and is being led by Wilmington Police with assistance from state, county, and federal law enforcement agencies.
Wilmington Mayor John Carney described the shooting as a “senseless act of violence.”
