Styles P recently shared his perspective on the current state of rap, expressing his belief that the competitive spirit that once thrived within the genre has diminished.
During a captivating interview on the Renaissance Man With Jalen Rose podcast, hosted by Jalen Rose, the prominent rapper from The LOX conveyed his thoughts on the absence of friendly sparring in today’s rap industry. Drawing analogies from the world of basketball, Styles P highlighted the disparity between the Hip Hop of yesteryears and the contemporary landscape, emphasizing a lack of competitiveness among artists.
He stated, “That’s also the difference between Hip Hop of back then and Hip Hop of today, they aren’t competitive enough against each other, I feel.”
Furthermore, Styles P elaborated on his perspective by stating, “I personally feel — like, when you get on a track with somebody, it’s supposed to be business. When you get in the studio with somebody, you supposed to be trying to air them out. Not diss them, but you supposed to be trying to drop a triple-double.. If they gone drop a double-double, you want to make sure you drop a triple-double, and I think that sense of competitiveness has left somewhat.”
