Cam’ron and Ma$e are back with Season 2 of their popular show, “It Is What It Is,” and this time, they’ve brought a special guest into the mix. The latest episode, which aired on Tuesday, September 5, featured none other than NFL legend O.J. Simpson.
O.J. Simpson, affectionately known as “The Juice,” made a virtual appearance on the Harlem rap duo’s sports debate show, donning a golf polo that proudly represented his alma mater, the University of Southern California Trojans. Broadcasting from the comfort of his own home, Juice delved into various NFL topics during his insightful 17-minute segment.
During his appearance, Simpson expressed his support for running backs, a position he himself excelled in while playing for the Buffalo Bills. He specifically highlighted the contractual disputes that running backs like New York Giants’ Saquon Barkley and Las Vegas Raiders’ Josh Jacobs have faced due to teams hesitating to offer long-term deals.
In a passionate plea to the NFL, Simpson urged them to eliminate the franchise tag for running backs, asserting, “Eliminate the franchise tag for the running backs,” he implored the NFL. “You can’t make them subject to the franchise tag. “We have the Constitution, the greatest piece of legislation ever written, but we have amendments… They got to do something to rectify this inequity.”
Juice also shared his admiration for some of today’s top running backs, including Saquon Barkley, Nick Chubb, Derrick Henry, Dalvin Cook, and Christian McCaffrey. He compared Saquon Barkley to legendary running backs like Barry Sanders, Gale Sayers, and Eric Dickerson, stating, “I would certainly throw Barkley into that argument.”
Notably, Cam’ron and Ma$e wisely kept the conversation focused on football and avoided delving into any controversial topics from Simpson’s past during the segment.
