Hip-hop legend Beanie Sigel is taking his talents from the mic to the kitchen with the launch of his new food truck, Grab & Roll, Wings & Bowls.
But what makes this venture truly unique is that Beans isn’t just the owner… he’s also the chef, cooking up every dish on the menu using skills he honed during his time behind bars.
In a recent interview with Philadelphia radio host Mina Say What, Beanie opened up about how his incarceration played a pivotal role in his culinary journey.
“When I went away, during one of my stints, I didn’t just sit around,” he shared. “I had to do my time, so I took up culinary.”
Sigel revealed that his motivation went beyond just passing the time. “I wanted to get my certifications, and it also helped me eat better,” he explained.
And while most might expect him to cook for fellow inmates, Beans revealed a surprising twist: “I didn’t cook for the prisoners… I cooked for the guards. They eat different!”
Beanie’s food truck is parked in his hometown of Philadelphia at 2400 Passyunk Ave., serving the community Wednesday through Saturday from 4 to 10 PM.
The menu reflects his hip-hop roots, featuring cleverly named dishes inspired by his lyrics and affiliations.
Local favorites like cheesesteaks, chicken wings, and fried seafood take center stage, alongside breakfast and dessert options that cater to a variety of cravings.
For Beanie Sigel, this isn’t just about food… it’s a continuation of his legacy in a city that shaped him.
