A shocking case out of Houston, Texas, has landed a former janitor behind bars after he was caught urinating into a doctor’s office water cooler… ultimately exposing employees to sexually transmitted diseases.
Lucio Catarino Diaz, who worked as a night janitor at the medical practice, was sentenced to six years in prison this week after pleading guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon… his own bodily fluids. Having already served two years, Diaz admitted to the disturbing act, claiming he suffered from a “sickness.”
The bizarre crimes first came to light in August 2022 when an employee, identified as M.A. in court documents, noticed an unusual smell and taste in the water from the office’s five-gallon dispenser. Initially dismissing it as a minor issue, she later detected the same foul odor in her personal water bottle… purchased separately from a store.
Determined to uncover the cause, the employee discreetly set up a hidden camera at her desk. What she later discovered was beyond shocking. Footage showed Diaz approaching her desk under the guise of cleaning, then unzipping his pants and inserting himself into her water bottle before placing it back as if nothing had happened.
After viewing the disturbing footage, M.A. alerted authorities and underwent medical testing, which revealed she had contracted Herpes simplex virus type 1… an infection she had never tested positive for before. Further investigations confirmed Diaz also carried the virus, along with chlamydia. Soon after, multiple other female employees at the clinic discovered they had also been infected.
As a result, prosecutors classified Diaz’s urine as a “deadly weapon,” citing the potential for severe health risks, including immune system complications.
Despite the nature of his crimes, Diaz will not be required to register as a sex offender. His attorney, Jimmy Ortiz, stated that his client was remorseful and opted to plead guilty rather than force the victims to endure a trial.
“Mr. Diaz was remorseful for his actions and did not want to put the complainants through that process,” Ortiz said in a statement.
While Diaz will serve additional time behind bars, the case has left many shaken… raising serious concerns about workplace safety and the need for stricter oversight in public and professional spaces.
