During an Instagram Live session with Verzuz co-founder Timbaland on May 12, Swizz Beatz hinted at a potential showdown between Rozay and Tip in the upcoming Verzuz season.
Timbo appeared to signal his approval of the idea. Notably, the head of MMG had previously called out T.I. in 2020, seeking a new contender for battle.
“Listen up… Tip has unfinished business. Rozay has unfinished business. And after this event, well… It’s time to evaluate the impact. We need to assess the weight of their contributions,” Ross expressed. Even Joe Budden chimed in on his podcast, suggesting a face-off between Rozay and T.I. in late 2022.
“I’m all for a rematch with the winner we’ve seen already, like, ‘Alright, next battle!'” Budden proposed. He further added, “Rick Ross versus T.I.”
One of Budden’s co-hosts pointed out that T.I. had yet to grace the Verzuz stage. In response, Budden said, “But Rick Ross has, and he’s got over 40 hits to play with. So now I’m back with a fresh 20. ‘John’ in front of T.I. looks different from ‘John’ in front of 2 Chainz.”
He continued, “I don’t think Ross will have time for strippers to make an appearance against T.I. There won’t be any room for massages or speeches—those are T.I.’s signatures. There are a few winners who need to come back and do it all over again.”
While T.I. has yet to participate in a Verzuz battle, he had expressed interest in a face-off with 50 Cent in 2021, although it never materialized.
“Hey 50,” Tip called out at the BMF premiere, “We have to do this, Verzuz, man. Let’s give the people what they want to see!”
In February, Swizz Beatz revealed that Verzuz fans can anticipate an impressive lineup for Season 3, set to arrive later this year.”
