Jadakiss, the celebrated rapper from Yonkers, recently sat down with Dave East for an exclusive interview as part of HipHopWired’s I Got Questions series. During the candid conversation, the two gritty New York emcees delved into various aspects of their careers, including their early days of touring. Jadakiss took the opportunity to recount a memorable and comical incident from The LOX’s first European tour.
Intriguingly, Jadakiss’s worst show ever didn’t involve a technical glitch or a hostile audience; it revolved around a wardrobe malfunction. The incident occurred during the late ’90s when The LOX embarked on their maiden European tour, with London as one of their stops.
Jadakiss reminisced, “It was probably our first European tour, late ’90s in London and I ran out of underwear.” He went on to explain that he was fortunate to have a friend from his neighborhood who also lived in London at the time. In a pinch, Jadakiss reached out to his friend, hoping to secure a fresh pair of boxers for the upcoming show.
However, things took an unexpected turn. Jadakiss shared, “We looking and there’s nothing though. I had a pair of Speedos. I had the worst shits ever. It was my worst show ever in life. I felt horrible. These shits — there wasn’t even boxer briefs. They was boy shorts… the KD, London Euro joints. No matter what happens, I overpack underwear.”
