In an exclusive interview with HipHopDX at One Music Fest 2023 in Atlanta, Trina expressed her admiration and gratitude towards Beyoncé for transcending the boundaries of pop and R&B and playing a pivotal role in paving the way for the upcoming generation of female rappers.
Trina, recognizing Beyoncé’s multifaceted talents, emphasized her impact on the hip-hop scene, particularly as a female rapper. In Trina’s words, “Yeah, Beyoncé. Because she is the No. 1 female rapper when she does rap. There’s no sleeping on the Queen.”
Trina further elaborated on the inspiration derived from Beyoncé’s rap contributions, describing the experience as a source of motivation for emerging female artists.
According to Trina, “It’s just one of those things, of course, it’s the Queen Beyoncé, but when you hearing a song and it’s rapping involved it’s like, oh my God — it’s more inspiration.”
Trina reflected on the evolving music landscape for female artists, pointing out the diversity in styles and sounds. She noted, “It’s just a good thing. I feel like for the girls now when you hear ’em and look at ’em it’s just all different kind of music and it all sounds different.”
