Fashion week may have officially begun in New York City, but it looks like a parallel event took place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. According to GQ, Rapper Lil Durk made a stylish appearance at the Lakers game, dressed in a fuzzy balaclava, glittering diamond chains, leather pants, Mad Max-inspired motocross boots with shin guards, and a gray mohair sweater that seemingly incorporated a full skateboard into its design.
The credit for this unique look goes to designer Jonathan Anderson, who showcased the sweater and leather pants with the broken skateboard in his Resort 2023 collection for JW Anderson. Anderson, known for his unconventional designs, has recently made a name for himself with his balloon-themed creations for the Spanish luxury label Loewe, where he also serves as creative director.
Anyway, Durk was in Paris for the men’s fashion week in June when Anderson presented this collection, which also featured garments adorned with BMX handlebars, CDs, and tin food-can lids. However, it appears that Durk did not attend the JW show. This means there was no “love-at-first-sight” moment, like Jared Leto, where Durk saw the skater sweater walk down the runway and knew he had to have it.
Regardless, to our delight, the sweater ended up with Durk, and he wore it while he watched the Lakers-Clippers game last night. At some point, he removed the balaclava, as it was probably too cumbersome.
