Former President Donald Trump has officially joined TikTok, and his presence is already making waves.
Within mere hours of posting his debut video from the Ultimate Fighting Championship 302 event in New Jersey, Trump amassed over 22 million views. By Sunday morning, he had garnered more than 1.1 million followers on the platform.
“The president is now on TikTok,” announced UFC President Dana White in a 13-second clip. Trump, 77, responded with a cheerful “It’s my honor” as he greeted fans in a mashup video.
This move comes despite Trump’s previous attempts to ban the Chinese-owned app during his presidency. Currently, TikTok faces a mandate to sell its U.S. operations or risk being banned, following a bipartisan bill passed by Congress in April.
“Just so everyone knows, especially the young people, Crooked Joe Biden is responsible for banning TikTok,” Donald Trump wrote in an April post on Truth Social.
