DJ Envy is no stranger to controversy, and his recent rifts with Funk Flex and Rick Ross have now been joined by criticism from his former business partner, Jose Rodriguez, also known as The Credit Dude. Rodriguez used Envy’s own book as ammunition to air his grievances on Instagram, shedding light on their ongoing legal battle in Bergen County, NJ.
The heart of the dispute between DJ Envy and Jose Rodriguez revolves around a business agreement. In this arrangement, Envy received a 25 percent share of Rodriguez’s credit repair company, Clean Slate Credit Solutions, in exchange for promoting the business.
Envy initiated the legal battle, claiming that Rodriguez had withheld financial information crucial for him to assess the value of his 25 percent stake in the company. Envy argued that without access to this information, he couldn’t accurately determine the worth of his share.
In response, Rodriguez countersued, alleging several grievances against DJ Envy. He contended that Envy had neglected his promotional responsibilities, even going as far as promoting rival businesses. Moreover, Rodriguez claimed that Envy had coerced him into hiring Envy’s personal executive assistant and lawyer, both of whom allegedly demanded exorbitant salaries.
Adding fuel to the fire, Rodriguez asserted that Clean Slate Credit Solutions had overpaid Envy to the tune of nearly $385,000, which accounted for more than half of Envy’s total earnings from the company, roughly estimated at $550,000.
