In the ongoing discussion about why Hip Hop has yet to achieve a No. 1 album or single this year, DJ Envy has voiced his opinion, countering Bow Wow’s claim that the genre’s music is subpar.
Bow Wow’s comment: “Cause n**** puttin’ out trash a** music. Everything sound alike, everything repetitive, same tempo … everybody could do that, you know what I’m saying? You really gotta have talent, you really gotta go. I think people are startin’ to get tired of it now, that’s why you don’t see nothin’ chartin.”
During an encounter with TMZ at LAX on Wednesday (June 28), The host of The Breakfast Club responded to Bow Wow’s remarks. According to DJ Envy, the primary issue lies not in the quality of the music, but rather in the sheer quantity being produced.
Highlighting the impact of various artists in recent years, DJ Envy specifically mentioned rising talents such as Young Nudy and Toosii. He also acknowledged the lasting influence of established figures like 21 Savage and Drake.
“I think it’s just a matter of time. I just think that we’re just consuming so much music now, and it’s kinda hard for music to stick. Usually, we had music and we’d rock for a whole summer or couple of months. But now it seems we’re turning music over too fast.”
