A dream vacation turned tragic for 23-year-old ICU nurse Sierra Fairhurst after a moped crash in Thailand left her with a brain bleed, shattered facial bones, and missing teeth.
Fairhurst was rushed to a hospital in Krabi before being transferred to Bangkok. Her mother and brother flew in to assist but faced complications when her passport and ID went missing. With help from the U.S. State Department, she returned to Boston on March 27.
Now, she faces a long road to recovery, requiring multiple surgeries and medical treatments. Despite the trauma, her mother remains hopeful: “Her face can be fixed, her wounds will heal… she has the strength to overcome this.”
A GoFundMe has been set up to assist with her medical expenses.
