Wiz Khalifa, the popular rapper from Pittsburgh, is facing legal trouble after allegedly smoking cannabis during a live performance in Romania this summer.
Reports suggest the rapper was recently indicted on October 16 by Romanian authorities in Constanța for drug-related charges that could result in a hefty fine or even up to two years in prison.
The incident took place on July 13 during the Beach Please! Festival, where Wiz Khalifa was seen lighting a joint on stage. According to Romania-Insider, the rapper was initially arrested at the event for drug possession but was later released.
His charge centers around the illicit use of cannabis, with reports indicating that he was found in possession of over 18 grams of the drug, a quantity considered risky under Romanian law.
Romania’s anti-organized crime prosecutors, DIICOT, released a statement explaining that Khalifa had consumed cannabis in front of the festival crowd, which led to his arrest.
“During a performance at a music festival in the Costinești resort, Constanța County, [Khalifa] possessed more than 18 grams of cannabis and consumed another quantity on stage in the form of a hand-rolled cigarette,” DIICOT revealed.
Following the incident, Wiz Khalifa took to social media to address the situation, apologizing to his fans in Romania. Posting on X (formerly known as Twitter), he clarified his intentions, writing: “Last night’s show was amazing. I didn’t mean any disrespect to the country of Romania by lighting up on stage.”
“They were very respectful and let me go. I’ll be back soon. But without a big ass joint next time.”
With legal proceedings now underway, Wiz Khalifa could face a serious fine or potential jail time depending on how the court rules. Fans are eager to see how the situation unfolds, especially as the rapper’s return to Romania hangs in the balance.
