In an exclusive revelation, will.i.am sheds light on a fascinating encounter involving two music legends, Michael Jackson and Prince.
The Black Eyed Peas star narrates an intriguing incident where he attempted to persuade Jackson to accompany him to a Prince concert, only to be met with an unexpected response.
During a teaser of his upcoming Drink Champs interview, will.i.am shares his efforts to convince Jackson to attend a performance where he would be sharing the stage with Prince.
“I brought Mike to go see me rock with Prince in Vegas,” will.i.am recalls. “So one time, Mike called me. He’s in Vegas and he’s like, ‘I heard you guys have a show tonight.’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, we got a show, going on around 10.'”
However, the conversation took an unexpected turn when Jackson expressed reluctance, citing parental duties. “‘Oh rats, I gotta put the kids to sleep,’” Jackson lamented, according to will.i.am. Despite reassurances that Jackson could join the show later, he remained firm in his stance, stating, “‘No, if I don’t see the show from the beginning, there’s no way for me to know what’s actually going on.'”
The conversation escalated when will.i.am revealed his collaboration with Prince later that night. Jackson’s response was surprising: “‘Oh, I can’t go to that … Prince is a meanie.’”
