Usher recently cleared the air regarding his sudden Twitter purge after rumors swirled that it was connected to Diddy’s sex trafficking and racketeering case.
Over the weekend, fans noticed that the R&B star’s entire feed on X (formerly Twitter) had been wiped clean, fueling conspiracy theories that the move was related to the scandal surrounding Diddy.
However, Usher quickly put an end to the speculation, returning to the platform to explain what really happened. “Account got hacked and damn y’all ran with it! [laughing face] See you tonight at Intuit Dome,” Usher tweeted on September 22, referencing his Past Present Future Tour performance in Inglewood, California.
The longtime bond between Usher and Diddy goes back to the early ’90s when the Bad Boy mogul took a young Usher under his wing. Their relationship has often been the subject of public interest, especially after Usher’s 2016 interview with Howard Stern.
During the interview, Usher reflected on his “wild” time living with Diddy, where he witnessed some “curious things” at Diddy’s so-called “Flavor Camp.”
“I moved to New York City and lived with Sean ‘Puffy’ Combs for a year in the ‘90s,” Usher recalled. “Do you understand what that’s like?! It was pretty wild. There were curious things happening that I didn’t necessarily understand at the time.”
When asked by Stern if he would send his own child to a “Puffy camp,” Usher’s response was an emphatic, “Hell no.”
Though Usher shut down the recent gossip with humor, his decades-long connection to Diddy continues to attract attention.
