Tyler, The Creator is making headlines once again, this time for taking a not-so-subtle jab at tech mogul Elon Musk during his explosive performance at ACL Festival 2024.
The Grammy-winning rapper, known for his unapologetic style, shocked fans by flipping the script on his 2017 hit “911/Mr. Lonely,” trading admiration for a biting critique of the Tesla CEO in front of a roaring crowd.
During the performance, Tyler altered the original lyrics, which praised Musk with the line, “Sucks you can’t gas me up / Shout out to Elon,” to a much harsher, “F*** Elon!!!”
The crowd erupted in response, as Tyler delivered the new lyrics with precision, leading many to wonder if this change was premeditated or a spur-of-the-moment display of frustration.
This moment marks a stark shift from Tyler’s previous stance on Musk. Back in 2016, just a year before the release of “Flower Boy,” Tyler expressed support for the billionaire, even praising him on social media for disrupting the global oil industry with Tesla’s rise.
However, it seems Tyler’s view of Musk has dramatically shifted in the years since, especially following Musk’s controversial acquisition of Twitter (now known as X).
Tyler’s unexpected diss has sparked conversations across social media, with fans and critics alike debating whether this was a genuine change of heart or simply part of the artist’s ever-evolving persona.
Either way, Tyler, The Creator once again proved he’s not afraid to speak his mind—whether on stage or through his music.
