Former President Donald Trump is making headlines once again, this time by stripping Secret Service protection from Hunter Biden and his sister, Ashley Biden. The move comes despite Trump previously extending the same benefits to his own children after leaving office.
Before leaving office, President Joe Biden ensured his children had Secret Service protection, covering them through July. However, Trump isn’t having it. On Monday, he took to social media to announce that the taxpayer-funded security detail was ending immediately.
“Hunter Biden has had Secret Service protection for an extended period of time, all paid for by the United States taxpayer,” Trump stated. “There are as many as 18 people on this detail, which is ridiculous!”
Trump also pointed out that Hunter Biden is currently on vacation in South Africa with his Secret Service team in tow. He made it clear that the protection ends now:
“Please be advised that, effective immediately, Hunter Biden will no longer receive Secret Service protection.”
Trump didn’t stop there. He also claimed that Ashley Biden has a security detail consisting of 13 agents… another expense he’s unwilling to support. Just like Hunter, she’ll also be losing her protection.
This decision is sure to spark political debate, as critics argue Trump is targeting Biden’s family while others applaud the move as a crackdown on unnecessary government spending.
