A horrific incident unfolded at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, resulting in the deaths of at least four individuals and injuries to approximately 30 others.
The full extent of the injuries is still being determined, and authorities have yet to confirm how many of these are due to gunshot wounds, according to sources close to the investigation.
The suspect, reportedly a person of student age, is currently in custody. However, it remains unclear whether the individual is actually enrolled at the school. This tragic event has prompted an immediate lockdown across all schools within the district, with law enforcement dispatched to every high school in the area as a precautionary measure. Fortunately, no additional threats or incidents have been reported at this time.
Some of the most critically injured victims were airlifted from the scene, and additional medical helicopters are on standby. Video footage from outside the school, located roughly an hour from Atlanta, reveals a chaotic scene with numerous ambulances and a significant police presence.
