Hip-hop legend Too $hort is mourning a heartbreaking loss after his older brother, Wayne Shaw, was fatally shot in Oakland last week.
Authorities report that 61-year-old Shaw was gunned down on Wednesday (January 29) outside a local dispensary. The incident unfolded when a group of suspects attempted to ram their vehicle into the entrance of the establishment.
Shaw, in an act of bravery, confronted the intruders but was shot before the perpetrators fled the scene. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
In the wake of the devastating news, Too $hort took to Instagram to express his overwhelming grief. The rap veteran posted back-to-back videos of himself driving, visibly emotional as he wiped away tears.
“Real tears,” he captioned one post, while in another, he admitted, “Ain’t really replying to a lot of texts or answering calls right now. I can’t.”
The hip-hop community quickly rallied around Too $hort, offering words of comfort and support. A-list names like Mike Epps, Royce Da 5’9″, Tamar Braxton, DJ Premier, Monica, Erick Sermon, MC Hammer, G-Eazy, Lloyd Banks, Daz Dillinger, Fat Joe, E-40, Lil Jon, IAMSU!, Styles P, and P-Lo flooded his comments with condolences.
