Tiger Woods is expressing regret for his actions in which he passed a tampon to Justin Thomas as a prank during a round of golf on Thursday. He acknowledged that his intention was to engage in harmless amusement, but he admitted that things have not unfolded in the way he had hoped.
Woods carried out the prank on his friend and fellow golfer on the ninth hole during their first round at the Genesis Invitational, soon after he had outdriven the 29-year-old PGA Tour professional by around 20 yards. The joke has been criticized by many as being sexist.
In a video of the incident, we can observe Tiger Woods and Justin Thomas walking towards their balls on the fairway when Woods handed the Tampax to Thomas. Upon realizing what it was, Thomas dropped it, and the two men shared a good laugh and a side hug before continuing their round.
Woods, who is a father to a 15-year-old daughter, received criticism for his prank. However, after his second round at the event on Friday, he clarified that he did not intend to hurt anyone with his actions and apologized to anyone who may have been offended. “If I offended anybody in any way, shape, or form, I’m sorry,” Woods said.
The 47-year-old golfer went on to clarify that he and Thomas frequently play pranks on each other.
