In a recent interview on VladTV, The Game addressed the controversial remarks he made about Kanye West having a significant impact on his career compared to his former producer and label boss, Dr. Dre.
Contrary to potential expectations, The Game revealed that Dr. Dre didn’t take offense at the comments and highlighted the unique dynamics between the two influential figures in his life.
During the interview, The Game acknowledged Kanye West’s pivotal role in his career and expressed gratitude for the support he received. He emphasized that Kanye went above and beyond, doing things for him that were not obligatory but showcased genuine camaraderie.
The Compton rapper explained the nuanced relationship with Dr. Dre, acknowledging that Dre, as a producer and business owner, had to prioritize his interests. The Game clarified that there were instances where Dre couldn’t fully have his back due to these obligations. He pointed out that Kanye, on the other hand, consistently stood by him without hesitation.
The Game stated, “What I can say about Dre is Dre ain’t always had my back — for good reason. Dre has to protect the interests of Dr. Dre. And there’s times when Ye had to protect the interests of Ye, but he didn’t give a f**k. He’d rather just go to bat for me.”
Addressing the aftermath of his comments, The Game asserted that he was merely expressing his truth and not intending to disrespect Dr. Dre. He clarified that, based on his occasional conversations with Dre, he believes the legendary producer understood the perspective from which the comments originated.
The Game expressed confidence that Dr. Dre wouldn’t hold any resentment if they were to meet today.
