Suge Knight may not be actively involved in the music industry, but from his vantage point behind bars, he has an interesting observation: women are taking charge in the game.
The former Death Row Records mogul recently launched his new podcast, “Collect Call With Suge Knight,” in partnership with Dave Mays’ Breakbeat Media. During the premiere episode, he gave a nod to the influential women who are making waves both musically and in the world of beauty. Notable names like Cardi B, SZA, Doja Cat, and more found themselves in his praises.
Knight expressed his admiration for these female powerhouses by stating, “I think the industry is controlled by the baddest b***hes in the world.” He emphasized The females got that sh*t on lock, and when you look at the women, they came such a long way, and they’re really, really strong. They’re not in the shadows of a man; they’re leading the way. I think Cardi B is incredible. That’s probably one of the biggest stars in the industry and a great businesswoman that leads the way.”
Knight also had words of appreciation for Doja Cat, acknowledging her as a versatile and highly successful artist. In the R&B genre, he recognized Summer Walker, Lizzo, and SZA for their remarkable contributions, even though he admitted not knowing them personally. According to Knight, these women are making things happen.
In Knight’s view, the present generation of female artists is breaking new ground. He commented, “These young artists are doing whatever they want, and not only that, they possess striking beauty.” He recalled a time when female R&B and rap artists were talented but often remained in the background. Now, the women of the industry not only sound great but also look stunning. Knight humorously noted that in the past, industry couples kept their relationships discreet, but today’s artists eagerly flaunt their partnerships on social media, showcasing the exceptional allure of these artists.
Knight concluded by highlighting the undeniable charm and influence of these women. He made it clear that he’s not trying to make any advances, emphasizing that he’s content with his age. He simply wanted to show his respect and appreciation, acknowledging that these women are the ones who truly run the industry.
“Collect Call With Suge Knight” is set to be a weekly podcast featuring half-hour phone conversations between Suge and host Dave Mays.
