Rapper and Long Beach native Snoop Dogg is expressing his concerns about the underwhelming performance of his beloved hometown basketball team, the Los Angeles Lakers.
In a recent interview on All The Smoke, aired on Thursday (January 26), he shared his insights on the team’s struggles, particularly their low ranking in the Western Conference this season.
Addressing the need for a strategic rebuild, Snoop Dogg emphasized the importance of infusing youthful energy into the Lakers’ roster. He suggested a significant shakeup, encouraging team owner Jeanie Buss to contemplate the team’s foundation and make room for emerging talents.
“We need to rearrange some elements and get some dynamic players on the court. Whenever a young and hungry team visits, we seem to falter,” he expressed during the interview.
Directing his message to Jeanie Buss, he urged, “Consider our roots—let’s bring in some young guns and redefine our approach.”
While acknowledging the enduring prowess of LeBron James, who continues to excel at 39 years old, Snoop Dogg commended the seasoned player, stating, “Old dog, you doing your thing. I’ma give you yours… cuh doing his thing.”
This call for a roster overhaul aligns with the quest for rejuvenation and competitiveness in the Lakers’ performance. Snoop Dogg’s perspective underscores the importance of embracing youthful talent to revitalize the team’s dynamics and potentially elevate their standing in the Western Conference.
