Shedeur Sanders just wrote his name into Cleveland history.
In his first NFL start, the rookie quarterback delivered a breakout performance as the Cleveland Browns cruised past the Las Vegas Raiders, 24-10, snapping a decades-long streak the franchise had been unable to shake.
Sanders is now the first Browns rookie QB to win his debut since 1995, ending a 26-year drought and turning his debut into a moment the fanbase won’t forget.
All eyes were locked on Sanders… a fifth-round pick who had patiently waited behind fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel… as he finally got his chance to take control of the offense. And he didn’t waste it.
Sanders finished 11-of-20 for 209 yards, tossing one touchdown and one interception while showing poise beyond his years.
His first career touchdown came on a highlight play, too. In the fourth quarter, running back Dylan Sampson took a short screen pass and exploded 66 yards to the end zone, stretching Cleveland’s lead to 24-3 and sealing the Browns’ dominant win.
With a historic first start now behind him, Sanders may have just made his case to keep the job for the rest of the season.
