Shaquille O’Neal recently took to his Big Podcast to clarify a humorous yet controversial social media post involving Drake. The former Los Angeles Lakers star opened up about the incident, aiming to set the record straight with the globally acclaimed rapper.
“Let me apologize real quick. I sent out a picture the other day,” Shaq began on his podcast. He acknowledged that his mistake was not clarifying that he wasn’t the one who created the image. “The mistake I made was I should’ve said ‘Who did this?’ Because I want Drake to know.”
Shaq explained that his intention was never to troll Drake. Instead, he believed that Drake, known for his good sense of humor, would appreciate the joke. “Listen, Drake has a great sense of humor. So I thought it was funny that they did that. I don’t want him to think ‘I saw Shaq trolling,’” he added, emphasizing his respect for the artist.
The viral image in question depicted a shirtless Shaquille O’Neal alongside a photoshopped Drake, whose head was placed on a woman’s body. The amusing picture showed Shaq embracing the doctored Drake with a playful edit captioned “BBL Drizzy,” a nod to Metro Boomin’s creative touch.
Shaq clarified that he had no part in the editing process and should have mentioned that in his post.
“No, I didn’t photoshop it. Somebody photoshopped it and I actually saw it. And I took the picture… So Drake, I apologize,” Shaq said sincerely. He expressed his hope that Drake found the humor in the situation as intended but acknowledged that he took down the post once it gained significant attention. “My bad, big Drake.”
Shaq’s candid apology and light-hearted explanation on his podcast highlight his respect for Drake and his intention to keep their camaraderie intact. The NBA legend’s acknowledgment of the mistake and prompt response demonstrate his character and ability to handle viral moments with grace.
