Rick Ross has once again paid homage to the late Nipsey Hussle, celebrating the rapper’s legacy on what would have been his 39th birthday. On Thursday (August 15), the Maybach Music Group mogul took to Instagram to honor his late friend and collaborator, who was tragically shot and killed in March 2019.
In an emotional video posted to his Instagram Stories, Ross reflected on Nipsey’s enduring influence and the lasting impact of his work.
“Today, my boy Nipsey Hussle would have turned 39. The marathon continues,” Rozay stated, invoking Nipsey’s iconic mantra that has become synonymous with perseverance and success.
Ross didn’t stop there; he gave a special shout-out to Blacc Sam, Nipsey’s brother and business partner, and the entire The Marathon Clothing (TMC) family. “Salute to Blacc Sam, the whole TMC family, the squad,” Ross said.
“Not many people could have held that empire up and elevated it the way they have. I’m sure Nip is smiling down. He was a legend, way too advanced for slow or lame n***as. That boy was on another level, even 10 years ago.”
To close out his tribute, Ross urged his followers to stream Nipsey’s classic 2010 mixtape The Marathon in honor of the rapper’s memory and contributions to the culture.
This heartfelt message from Rick Ross is a testament to Nipsey Hussle’s lasting influence on the hip-hop community and beyond, further cementing his status as a visionary far ahead of his time.
