Rapper T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris, found himself in an unexpected legal bind Sunday night at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport. The arrest, as reported by TMZ, was a result of mistaken identity.
Authorities had a warrant for a man named Clifford Harris, wanted in Baltimore, Maryland, for alleged violent behavior, stalking, and possible firearm involvement against a woman. Unfortunately, T.I. shares the same name, leading to his detention.
Upon his arrest, T.I. was taken to Clayton County Jail. Given the out-of-state nature of the warrant, an automatic extradition hearing was triggered. However, T.I.’s attorney, Steve Sadow, swiftly intervened, contacting the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office and securing T.I.’s release within two hours.
The judge reviewed and dismissed the extradition order, acknowledging the error. Notably, the Clifford Harris sought by authorities reportedly weighs 205 pounds, whereas T.I. weighs approximately 165 pounds, further highlighting the mistaken identity.
The initial complaint against the wanted Clifford Harris was filed on June 13 of this year.
