Rapper Juvenile, known for hits like “Back That A** Up” and “Slow Motion,” has announced that he will be performing his very own NPR Tiny Desk Concert, thanks to a fan-led Twitter campaign.
The campaign was started by a supporter who tweeted at NPR, asking them to have Juvenile participate in the concert series. At first, Juvenile was confused and tweeted back, asking, “Wtf is a tiny desk and no” with laughing emojis. However, his fans quickly educated him about the popular show that features artists like Harry Styles, Sting, and Shaggy performing at “All Songs Considered” host Bob Boilen’s desk in Washington, DC.
Juvenile then challenged his Twitter followers to retweet him 10,000 times, promising to “RECONSIDER doing @NPR Tiny Desk” while drinking an “ice cold” Juvie Juice, which is his recent partnership with Urban South Brewery – an adult version of a half lemonade and half iced tea drink, traditionally known as an Arnold Palmer. Fans accepted the challenge and retweeted his message over 11,000 times as of Wednesday night.
In response, Juvenile confirmed on Twitter that he will indeed be performing a Tiny Desk Concert, saying, “The People Have Spoken!!!! 10k!! and @NPR locked it in,” although he did not provide concert details. He expressed his gratitude to his fans and promised to put on a one-of-a-kind show for them on the show.
This exciting news has generated buzz among music lovers and fans of the rapper, who can’t wait to see Juvenile’s unique performance on the NPR Tiny Desk Concert series.
