Tragedy has struck the NYPD after veteran detective Alicia Stone, 40, died just days following cosmetic surgery in Colombia, sparking urgent questions from her grieving family.
Stone, a 13-year member of the NYPD Internal Affairs Bureau, traveled to Cali, Colombia, for a Brazilian butt lift and liposuction. But instead of returning home, she was found unresponsive in her hotel room last Thursday. She was rushed to Fundación Valle del Lili Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead from what they described as “cardiac arrest.”
Her husband, Michael Stone, says the details don’t add up. “The doctor who called me from Colombia just said my wife had passed away. When I asked questions, there were no answers. Something isn’t right,” he told the Daily News.
Reports indicate Detective Stone was taking anticoagulants and pain medication during her recovery at the hotel. Colombian authorities and NYPD officials have now opened an investigation into her sudden death.
A mother of three, Stone is remembered for her compassion and dedication both on and off duty. A family fundraiser described her as someone whose “kindness, courage, and strength touched everyone she met.”
Michael Stone says his mission now is clear… “I don’t have the facts… and that’s what I need. The facts of what happened to my wife.”
