Nicki Minaj and Kenneth Petty are facing a lawsuit for $750,000 due to an alleged attack by her husband on a security guard who was on her staff.
According to The Blast, at the end of January 2022, Nicki Minaj and her husband, Kenneth Petty, were facing a lawsuit for assaulting a German bodyguard named Thomas Weidenmuller. He has accused the rapper of battery and causing emotional distress.
The documents obtained by The Blast reveal that Thomas Weidenmuller, the plaintiff, was serving as head of security for Nicki Minaj’s concert in Frankfurt, Germany in 2019. At the show, a fan managed to get on stage, bypassing the security team, which the rapper did not approve of.
According to The Blast, the docs said the “concert-goer breached a security barricade dividing the audience from the stage and was able to get on stage while Minaj was performing. In obtaining access to the stage, the concert-goer bypassed a female security guard stationed at the stairs leading to the stage.”
A recent court document obtained by The Blast places a monetary value on the damages, totaling $753,958.51. According to the original lawsuit, the security guard claimed that although Nicki Minaj was unharmed, she overreacted.
“The concert-goer did not cause harm to any other person, nor did he damage any property during or after his limited time on stage. He simply danced on stage to the music. He did not attempt to, and did not actually, make any physical contact with Minaj while on stage.”
The security guard alleges that after the concert, Nicki Minaj, her husband Kenneth, and some members of her entourage approached them. They felt intimidated as the group was “substantial” in size. According to the guard, Nicki and her entourage were “irate” during the confrontation and verbally abused the female security guard, calling her a “f—ing bitch” and accusing her of endangering the rapper. The female security guard was reportedly in tears and apologized to Minaj during the encounter.
Despite her apology, Nicki Minaj was unsatisfied and demanded another apology, which she recorded on her phone. She pressured the security guard to confess, on the recording, that she had failed to perform her duties and put the rapper in danger to be viewed by her fans.
According to the lawsuit, Nicki Minaj removed her shoes and threw them at the security guard but missed. Thomas Weidenmuller claims that the assault took place when he was called backstage by Kenneth Petty and confronted by him, along with two other bodyguards. They allegedly yelled insults at Weidenmuller and accused him of having a relationship with the female bodyguard, which he denies. The lawsuit states that “without warning,” Petty punched Weidenmuller on the right side of his face from the side.
According to the security guard, he experienced intense pain immediately after being hit by Kenneth Petty and spent 10 painful days in the hospital. He stepped away to avoid further confrontation but was disoriented.
The security guard claims that after two to three minutes, believing his jaw was broken, he returned to the location where he was hit by Kenneth Petty. The police were then summoned, and an investigation was initiated. This has led to the current lawsuit seeking $750,000 in damages.
