In a heartbreaking incident, Khyree Jackson, the talented cornerback for the Minnesota Vikings, tragically lost his life in a car crash in Maryland on Saturday, as confirmed by authorities.
According to Maryland State Police, Jackson was traveling with Isaiah Hazel and Anthony Lytton in a maroon Dodge Charger in Upper Marlboro during the early morning hours. Their vehicle collided with two others in a catastrophic accident.
Preliminary investigations reveal that a silver Infiniti, attempting a high-speed lane change, crashed into the Charger. This impact propelled the Charger into a moving Chevy Impala before it veered off the road, crashing into a grove of trees where it ultimately came to a halt.
Emergency responders arrived promptly but tragically pronounced Jackson and Hazel dead at the scene. Lytton was transported to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after. Fortunately, no other individuals were harmed in the incident.
The Maryland State Police have launched an ongoing investigation into the crash. At this stage, no citations have been issued, nor arrests made. Updates will follow as the investigation progresses.
Khyree Jackson’s death was initially confirmed by his mother, Ebbony Jackson, who received the devastating news early this morning.
Jackson, a promising athlete, was selected by the Minnesota Vikings as the 108th overall pick in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft this past April. His potential and dedication had already made a significant impact on his team and fans.
Vikings General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah expressed his profound sorrow in a statement, saying, “I am heartbroken by the loss of Khyree… My thoughts are with Khyree’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.”
The sports world mourns the untimely passing of a rising star whose career was cut tragically short.
