Attorney Michael Avenatti was sentenced today to 14 years in prison for embezzling millions of dollars from 4 of his former clients, including obstruction.
Earlier this year, Avenatti pleaded guilty to four counts of wire fraud for each client he stole from and one count of endeavoring to obstruct the administration of the Internal Revenue Code, according to CNN.
Avenatti obstructed the IRS’s effort to collect $5 million in unpaid payroll taxes for Tully’s Coffee.
Federal Judge James Selna handed down Avenatti’s sentence.
