Chris Henrie, a 26-year-old content creator from Paramus, New Jersey, has a passion that many find unusual… he collects antique dolls, a hobby he believes is his true calling. Despite the raised eyebrows and eerie reputation these dolls carry, Chris has built a collection of around 250 vintage figures, estimating their worth between $3,000 and $4,000.
His fascination began at age 16 when he stumbled upon a cracked, timeworn doll in a Massachusetts antique shop. He named her “Crusty Marge” and was instantly captivated by her historic charm. From that moment, he became obsessed with collecting dolls, particularly composite ones from the early 1900s to the 1950s, which typically range in price from $50 to $100.
“I’ve always felt drawn to them,” Chris shared. “People think they’re creepy, but to me, they’re just misunderstood… kind of like I was growing up.”
Most of his finds come from thrift stores, where he prefers to inspect each doll in person to feel its “energy” before adding it to his ever-growing collection. Some rarer additions come from online marketplaces like eBay and Etsy.
Now, with an entire room dedicated to his collection, Chris embraces his love for these so-called “creepy” dolls, proudly showcasing them on social media and challenging the stigma that surrounds his unique passion.
