Meek Mill recently revealed that his decision to stop writing down lyrics was inspired by none other than Jay-Z and Lil Wayne. These influential rappers motivated him to adopt a new approach to his creative process, as he shared on his Instagram Stories.
In a recent episode of The Pivot Podcast, Lil Wayne discussed the impact of Jay-Z’s practice of memorizing lyrics before recording them. This revelation prompted the Young Money founder to immediately make a similar change in his own songwriting methods.
Taking to his Instagram Stories, Meek Mill shared a clip from the podcast interview and expressed his gratitude towards both Jay-Z and Lil Wayne for influencing his decision. He wrote, “After witnessing Jay-Z’s approach and seeing Wayne follow suit, I also stopped writing lyrics down. #superfact.”
By embracing this new technique, Meek Mill joins the ranks of Jay-Z and Lil Wayne, who have achieved tremendous success in the music industry while relying on their memory and creativity.
