In a highly anticipated showdown between two prominent figures in the Philadelphia music scene, Meek Mill unleashed a scathing tirade against DJ Drama, marking the culmination of months of mounting tension.
Meek took to Twitter on Monday, May 29, to publicly denounce the Gangsta Grillz artist, referring to him as “goofy” and accusing him of consistently belittling him. The rapper provided evidence of their heated exchange by sharing a screenshot of their recent group chat, capturing Drama’s response to Meek’s allegations.
Expressing his frustration, Meek tweeted, “I asked drama why he always speaking down on me with a few other words too told him he’s a goofy,” Meek tweeted. “I also hit him when he tried to compare dreams and nightmares to I wanna rock AND DOWNPLAY ME … DONT LET THESE INDUSTRY LAMES USE YOU THEY DONT REALLY EVEN LIKE YOU SMH LOL.”
Meek Mill’s discontent with DJ Drama intensified due to a recent interview in which the veteran artist hailed Drake as the new JAY-Z of this generation, overshadowing Meek’s own accomplishments. Venting his frustrations, Meek emphasized that if someone were to ask him about Drama and DJ Khaled, he would never stoop to such levels, despite his prior collaborations with the Miami DJ. Additionally, Meek alleged that Drama had confirmed his participation in a “Tiny Desk” performance for his upcoming album, “I’m Really Like That,” without consulting him or his team.
“He confirmed tiny desk without speaking to my team or me,” Meek explained. “I told him I wasn’t locking it in … I’m not even on his album …I’m too up to be working another man’s album rollout wtf …everytime I rap I get rich and I ain’t been barely rapping I been on business timing ….I hate these industry n****s. If they can’t use you, they try to devalue you to the public!”
Meek Mill asserted that his issues with Drama originated from the DJ’s alleged involvement in instigating his past feud with Drake. Matters escalated this year when Drama proclaimed Lil Uzi Vert’s “Just Wanna Rock” as the new anthem of Philadelphia, surpassing the significance of Meek’s “Dreams & Nightmares.” Although Meek responded to the discourse, his remarks were not directly aimed at Drama.
In response to Meek’s scathing comments, DJ Drama took to social media to address the situation, offering his own perspective on the matter.
