Mary J. Blige, often referred to as the “Queen of Hip-Hop Soul,” has initiated legal proceedings against a talent agency for alleged contract breaches related to an unpaid portion of her $1.1 million performance fee at the 2022 Funk Fest concert in Miami.
Back on September 5, 2022, Mary J. Blige entered into a contractual agreement with the RM Talent Agency to grace the stage at Funk Fest, which took place on December 30, 2022, at the Miami Fairgrounds. According to the contract, Blige was entitled to a substantial fee of $1.1 million for her performance.
The lawsuit reveals a timeline of partial payments made by RM Talent Agency towards the total performance fee. These payments include $250,000 disbursed on September 20, 2022, followed by $200,000 on November 9, 2022, and an additional $200,000 on January 18, 2023. However, despite Mary J. Blige fulfilling her obligations and delivering a remarkable performance at the event, the talent agency has failed to honor the remaining balance of $450,000.
At the heart of this legal battle lies the unresolved balance of $450,000. This discrepancy has become the focal point of contention between Mary J. Blige, an artist celebrated for her illustrious career, which includes nine Grammy Awards and a Primetime Emmy Award, and the RM Talent Agency.
