Ma$e has come to the defense of WNBA rising star Caitlin Clark, addressing the surge of criticism she’s faced over persistent hard fouls.
In a recent NBC News interview released on Monday, June 3, Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark shared her thoughts on the intense physicality she encounters in the league.
Clark, who ranks third in the league for most fouled players, expressed how she manages the criticism. “I wasn’t expecting it,” she admitted about her latest foul. “But I think it’s important to just respond by letting your play speak for itself. It’s a physical game, so I just focus on making the free throw and executing on offense.”
That same day, Ma$e voiced his support for Clark on the “It Is What It Is” podcast. He emphasized the need for fair treatment in women’s sports.
“They are undermining the importance of portraying female sports appropriately,” he said. “To attract branding dollars, your brand needs to be clean and marketable across various platforms.”
Ma$e continued, addressing Clark’s situation directly. “I think they’re being unnecessarily rough with Caitlin Clark. I disagree with what Monica said. If someone is bringing more attention and marketing opportunities to the game, why hinder their success?”
“You shouldn’t necessarily help her, but you definitely shouldn’t be trying to hurt her. Excessive aggression towards Caitlin comes across as hating.”
