Harlem rap icon Ma$e has some powerful words of wisdom for Bronny James, son of NBA legend LeBron James, as the young star prepares to carve out his own path in the league.
During a recent episode of It Is What It Is — the sports talk show Ma$e co-hosts with Cam’ron — the rapper-turned-sports commentator advised Bronny to embrace a tougher persona on the basketball court to thrive in the competitive NBA environment.
With Bronny expected to play in the G League this season, Ma$e highlighted the intense pressure the young player will face. “It’s going to get wild in the G League,” Ma$e warned.
“The guys there are hungry and trying to make a name for themselves, and the spotlight on them intensifies when they play Bronny.”
The Harlem legend didn’t hold back, offering specific advice on how Bronny can step up and own the court: “It’s kill or be killed every night out there. Listen to Uncle Murda—get the cornrows, wear the sleeve, switch to number six, and rock the red LeBrons. Trust me, just try it for one game, and I guarantee you’ll see results.”
Ma$e, who was also a talented high school basketball player, believes this transformation will make a huge impact on Bronny’s game. “You’ll score six to eight points a game, and you’ll start realizing, ‘Damn, Ma$e knows what he’s talking about!’” he said confidently.
Drawing a comparison to another superstar, Ma$e referenced Drake’s rise from a suburban teen actor to a global rap sensation. “It’s like when you’re from the suburbs but start tricking yourself into thinking you’re gangsta — before you know it, you become the 6 God!” he quipped. “Drake started saying, ‘I got enemies,’ and I believed it!”
With Bronny James under the spotlight, Ma$e’s advice might just help him build the confidence and swagger to handle the challenges of the NBA.
