LL Cool J has weighed in on the infamous clash between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, expressing his thoughts during a candid conversation with Hot 97’s TT Torrez. The veteran rapper, familiar with the dynamics of rap battles, did not hold back in sharing his perspective on who emerged victorious.
“Kendrick clearly won the battle,” LL Cool J stated confidently. “It’s pretty obvious. And look, I respect Drake. I enjoy his music and he’s a cool guy. We might not know each other personally, but I appreciate his work and success.”
He continued by acknowledging Drake’s talent but suggested that challenging Kendrick Lamar might not have been the best decision. “But, you know, Kendrick… that might have been a risky move.”
LL Cool J also reflected on the significance of the feud within the broader context of hip-hop culture. “I have immense respect for both of them. This battle was great for the culture of Hip Hop. Their names are now part of history because of it,” he noted.
“Even our discussion about it now cements it further into history. Both artists are extremely talented and performed admirably. It wasn’t that Drake failed entirely; he just wasn’t as strong in this particular face-off with Kendrick.”
