French Montana recently shared a poignant insight into his decision to halt his ambitions of “buying the block” following the tragic murder of Nipsey Hussle.
Speaking on The Breakfast Club in an interview released on February 23, the leader of the Coke Boys, reflected on his new track “Dirty Bronx Intro” where he also pays homage to the late Coke Boy Chinx, who fell victim to a drive-by shooting in 2015.
Expressing his deep concern, French Montana described the impact of witnessing Nipsey Hussle’s murder, labeling it as “one of the most disgusting things” he has ever seen.
Nipsey, a beloved figure, was slain outside his clothing store while actively working towards revitalizing his neighborhood and investing in his community.
French Montana admitted that witnessing such a tragedy instilled fear in him, deterring him from pursuing similar endeavors.
He further elaborated on the risks involved, citing the tragic fate of Chinx, who was fatally shot in Queens. French Montana’s reflections underscore the harsh reality faced by many who strive to uplift their communities, often encountering violence and adversity in the process.
The artist’s decision to step back from his plans highlights the sobering effect of violence and serves as a poignant reminder of the challenges faced by those seeking positive change in their neighborhoods.
