Former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was shot, and killed by a man from behind while he was making a stump speech on a street in Nara on Friday.
The police apprehended the man who attacked Abe. Abe appeared to have been shot in the chest and was bleeding. They rushed him to the hospital, according to NHK where he later died from the gun shot wound. One reporter claimed to have heard a gun shot.
“It is barbaric and malicious and it cannot be tolerated,” Current Japanese Prim Minister Fumio Kishida told the media.
