In a recent Instagram Live session, Bronx rapper Fat Joe showered Chris Brown with high praise, drawing comparisons between the R&B star and the legendary Michael Jackson.
Fat Joe asserted that if it weren’t for Chris Brown’s controversial past, particularly his domestic violence case involving Rihanna, he would be universally recognized on the same level as Michael Jackson.
“If Chris Brown never got into the controversy with Rihanna, we would be calling him Michael Jackson right now,” Joe stated emphatically. “Not like Michael Jackson — Michael Jackson. He is the most talented singer, artist, performer, and hitmaker of our time.”
The rapper emphasized that no one in the current music industry comes close to matching Chris Brown’s talent. “There’s nobody even close to Chris Brown, and it’s time we move past it. It’s been 20-something years that I know of — there’s no more incidents. Are we going to let this lifetime go by without acknowledging the truth?”
Fat Joe highlighted the hesitation people feel about expressing such opinions due to fear of backlash and cancel culture, particularly among celebrities.
“What happens is, when the truth is an unpopular decision, everybody gets scared to say it. They get canceled — especially famous people. But you know, the streets — they know what it is. Streets always know, they tell you the truth.”
Fat Joe insisted that the artist’s impressive catalog and numerous hits deserve greater recognition. “it’s a shame that we lying and we not giving it up to the king of R&B,” he said. “We be thinking he could battle Michael Jackson, that’s all I’m tryna say. I’m not lying. If you really look at his body of work and you look at all his hits, you see what he does.”
Fat Joe was clear in condemning Chris Brown’s past actions towards Rihanna but pointed out that Brown was young at the time. He emphasized the importance of acknowledging Brown’s artistic contributions despite his past mistakes.
