Rapper Fabolous recently shared his thoughts on the current state of female rap, expressing his belief that it has become too one-dimensional. Fabolous expressed a desire to hear more diverse perspectives from the talented ladies in the hip-hop industry.
In recent years, female rappers like Ice Spice, Sexyy Red, GloRilla, Megan Thee Stallion, Latto, Coi Leray, Cardi B, City Girls, Scar Lip, and many others have been making remarkable strides in the world of hip-hop, empowering women along the way.
Acknowledging this trend, male artists have also recognized the impact of female rappers, with Lil Baby recently acknowledging that they are currently dominating the industry.
However, Fabolous offered a different perspective, appreciating the success of women in hip-hop but expressing a desire for them to incorporate their life experiences more into their music.
“I love hearing female rappers talking some real shit. Women are so strong. Have so many stories and perspectives that we need to hear in pure form.”
He further emphasized, “No disrespect to any female rappers out there, but I think there’s only one style of female rap/Hip Hop being promoted, programmed, and looked at as successful now.”
