Nina Thomas, the estranged wife of former NFL star Earl Thomas, is facing serious legal trouble after being charged with multiple crimes, including wire fraud and money laundering. Prosecutors allege that she orchestrated a scheme to defraud the former Seattle Seahawks safety out of millions of dollars.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ Sports, Nina’s alleged scheme began in September 2021, following her divorce filing in 2020. Investigators claim she, along with an unidentified accomplice, siphoned funds and assets from Earl Thomas without his consent, transferring them into accounts under their control.
Authorities say the fraudulent activity amounted to over $2.7 million. The funds were reportedly used for luxury purchases, including breast implants and a coveted Hermès Birkin handbag.
An arrest warrant for Nina Thomas was issued on December 13, and she was taken into custody just days later on December 16. Though she was released shortly after her arrest, she now faces multiple charges, including conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud, money laundering, and aggravated identity theft.
Nina and Earl Thomas’s relationship has been anything but smooth. The two tied the knot in a star-studded wedding in 2016, attended by notable guests like Russell Wilson and Ciara.
However, their marriage unraveled in a highly publicized incident in 2020 when Nina allegedly held a loaded gun near Earl’s head after discovering infidelity.
Since the arrest, Nina Thomas, who now identifies as a real estate agent… has been active on Instagram but has yet to address the charges publicly. Legal proceedings are expected to unfold as authorities continue to investigate the case.
