Attorneys have asserted that there may be a connection between the rapper Drake and the passing of the musical artist XXXTentacion.
XXXTentacion, also known as Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, suffered a fatal shooting in June 2018 in the middle of the day after being ambushed as he exited a motorcycle dealership in Florida.
XXXTentacion, the 20-year-old musician, was prevented from departing the parking lot and subsequently shot by two masked armed individuals who demanded he surrender his chain, which he declined. Michael Boatwright, Dedrick Williams, and Trayvon Newsome have been charged with first-degree murder and are currently undergoing trial.
According to the New York Post, defense lawyers have posited in court that there could be a connection between the rapper Drake and the murder. However, there is currently no credible evidence to support these claims.
Defense lawyers have asserted that authorities did not thoroughly examine the rumored animosity between Drake and XXXTentacion after the latter’s death.
For years, there have been rumors suggesting that the late rapper, also known as X, had a conflict with the highly acclaimed Canadian musician. In 2018, a post on X’s Instagram account claimed, “If anyone tries to kill me it was @champagnepapi [Drake]. I’m snitching RN.” However, the artist swiftly clarified that his social media account had been compromised.
