A DNA test reveals Chicago family’s new rescue dog from Texas is a cousin of their late pet. Sopko and Staackmann picked up Frida from a Chicago shelter, and shortly after, they got an Embark dog DNA test to learn more about their new love bug.
They also got the same DNA test done for their late dog Greta, a German shepherd mix adopted from a Chicago shelter.
Compared with Greta’s results stored with EMbark, Frida’s recent DNA test revealed that the dogs are biologically related. With Frida and Gretha sharing 6% of their DNA, making them first or second cousins.
