In a recent interview with AllHipHop’s Chuck Creekmur and DJ Thoro, Dame Dash voiced his discontent towards Lyor Cohen, the co-founder of Roc-A-Fella Records.
Dash criticized Cohen for what he perceives as disrespectful comments and exploitation within the music industry. According to Dash, he “benched” Cohen in the music business, labeling him a “culture vulture.”
Dame Dash also accused Cohen of transitioning to YouTube, where he allegedly pacifies individuals while overseeing the exploitation of CPMs and data. Dash questioned Cohen’s credibility, stating, “When you see someone creates a 360 deal or something that doesn’t behoove the artist in one industry, how do you trust them in another?”
Continuing his critique, Dash expressed a desire to publicly challenge Cohen, even suggesting a celebrity boxing match. However, he acknowledged Cohen’s age as a hindrance to a fair competition. “Lyor was old when I was young. He was old 20 years ago to me. He looks like if I blow on him, he’ll fall apart,” remarked Dash.
While refraining from physical confrontation, Dash conveyed his strong disapproval of Cohen’s actions, accusing him of robbing the culture and creating systems that exploit various aspects, from clothing rights to show rights.
Dash asserted that Cohen fails to provide artists with a clear understanding of CPMs or data while allegedly taking it from them.
Dame Dash expressed his determination to challenge Lyor Cohen publicly, criticizing him for actions that, according to Dash, erode the cultural foundation and exploit artists in various industries.
