Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder Dame Dash recently shared his thoughts on how Donald Trump and his team allegedly leveraged the controversy surrounding Sean “Diddy” Combs to influence Kamala Harris’ political standing.
Speaking on his America Nu Network, Dash offered insights into why he believes Harris’ use of celebrity endorsements may have inadvertently harmed her campaign.
Reflecting on Harris’ approach, Dash noted that while her campaign was “pretty good,” he would have made a key adjustment. “What I would have done differently is to steer clear of the celebrities,” he explained.
“In this moment, it’s not the best thing to be associated with celebrity figures, especially with the circumstances at play. I think they really leveraged the situation around Puff quite effectively.”
Dash suggested that Harris may have leaned heavily on supporters connected to Diddy’s inner circle. “It’s a grey area,” Dash continued, hinting that by associating Harris with figures linked to Diddy, Trump’s team exploited public perception.
“They made sure the whole world knew about what Puff was accused of, and then cast a shadow on everyone else associated with him.”
Dash went on to praise Elon Musk’s role in utilizing social media to further the narrative. “Elon owns Twitter, and whenever a celebrity endorsed Kamala, he’d question their judgment, suggesting, ‘They were at a Puff party. Why trust them?’ And then he’d make sure it was boosted in the algorithm. They were leveraging that reach to counteract the influence of celebrity endorsements.”
Dame Dash’s remarks reflect his take on the powerful intersection of politics, celebrity culture, and media manipulation, suggesting that carefully orchestrated tactics could hold sway over public opinion in today’s hyper-connected world.
